The Lost Symbol - Dan Brown

Robert Langdon is solving crimes again. This time in Washington, where he is summoned to unlock the code from a ancient free-masons talisman. He learns his Mentor Peter a fellow Mason Peter has been Kidnapped, Peters sister Katherine is in danger, and the CIA are watching his every move. Its up to Robert to unlock the code to help discover the truth.

Borrowed from a friend. I have read most of his other previous works and was interested to see if this followed suit.

I wasn't disappointed. This book follows Brown's style and type of writing. The book is fast paced and keeps you hooked till the very end. With very light references to Washington DC and the secret society of the free-masons you can tell Brown has done some research before writing this novel.  He keeps the pace going, and its quite a gripping book.  Their is some almost unnecessary gore thrown into this book, which you come to expect with a Dan Brown Novel, but not enough to quite put me off.

The only negative with this story is that it is a little bit predictable, as with all Brown's novels. You know exactly how they are going to end, however their were a few twists just to keep you guessing and to spin you off track. I would put it about on par with the Da Vinci Code, however i wouldn't read all Browns books in quick succession as they are quite similar and they all follow a similar pattern. Fortunately it has been a few years since i have read a Brown novel which kept this one quite fresh for me.  A nice thrilling easy read.
