The Woman He Loved Before - Dorothy Koomson

Libby has a good life with a gorgeous husband and a home by the sea. But over time she is becoming more unsure if Jack has ever loved her - and if he is over the death of Eve, his first wife. When fate intervenes in their relationship, Libby decides to find out all she can about the man she hastily married and the seemingly perfect Eve. But in doing so she unearths devastating secrets. Frightened by what she finds and the damage it could cause, Libby starts to worry that she too will end up like the first woman Jack loved ...

Why Read - I have loved all of Koomson's books before and am always eager to get her latest book.  So was hoping this would be on Par with her other novels.

Another good, gripping read from a well loved author. Koomson carries on with her tradition of writing good chick lit books with a gripping plot, interesting characters and some great twists. Her writing is well written and keeps you entertained throughout. In this novel she switches from the present day - Libby after the accident and finding out the truth, and the truth through a series of diary entries from his ex wife.  The diary entries I did not feel were written in the style you would write your diary, but this can be forgiven as this was the easiest way for Koomson to tell the story.

Following her own themes as previously novels she focuses on one white character and one black character and how their lives intertwined. Her writing style stays the same and her plots follow the same guidelines she writes for each novel. This breeds familiarity in her writing and for most part is a winning formula.  With this book their were a few predictable twist and twists  which due to the numerous possibilities you weren't too sure which route she may take.  However the story she told worked for this novel and is a good one to read.  Its the kind of book that doesn't need much thinking about and you can just sink into read and understand.

Overall I do think this on par with her other novels. Following similar traits and themes as her previous work. Koomson did not disappoint with this chick lit and kept the reader interested throughout. She had well thought out characters and an interesting plot.  A good read.
