Life and Laughing is the autobiography of Michael McIntyre, who is a famous stand up comic. THis is the story of how he became who he is today. His showbiz roots, his appalling attempts to attract the opposite sex and the amazing journey from selling no seats at Edinburgh festival to being a sell out at Wembley.
Why Read - I love Michael McIntyre as a comic, and I have heard this biography is good. I don't often read biographies but this one caught my eye.
Micheal McIntyre is a very cheesy comic and this book was no exception. It felt very realistic to the comic you see on television, with his classic cheesy lines and social awkwardness he seems to portray. What i loved most is the fact I could imagine him talking as i read this book, and I could see his turn of phrases and mannerisms easily as I read through his stories. A lot of this book for me had laugh out loud moments as well as the awkwardness (especially about his attempts to attract women) which made this book amusing.
The writing style was easy to follow, and the book kept me gripped all the way through. Albeit it a little simple, a little basic and a little cheesy. If you like reading about a comics life, or you love Michael McIntyre then I would defiantly recommend this book. A great autobiography from a great comic.
