Carrie - Steven King

Carrie is no ordinary school girl, she has the gift of Telekinesis. She is badly bullied and has an overbearing religious mother, which spells disaster for Carrie.  When the kids in school go one step too far, Carrie exerts her revenge.

Why read? I have always wanted to read a few of Steven Kings books, and this was one of them. I roughly know of the story but its nice to say I have defiantly read his book.

I think its important that everyone reads at least one of Steven Kings books, if not several.  However this is not my favourite, but I am glad I finally read it.  I think it was good, and I did start to get into the story despite the fact its the type of story you cant warm to.  Having known roughly the story of Carrie defiantly helped me in visualise the story.

I think my biggest criticism is the fact their were no chapters in this book, and King rapidly switched from the present tense to references of stories and articles past the event.  This could get quite confusing as their was no break in the story to prepare you for the change. However you do quickly get used to this style of writing.

Overall I think its a good book, and defiantly sets Steven King up as a good novelist from his first book.
