War has left the Earth Devastated, through its ruins Deckard a bounty hunter stalks out rouge Androids. When he isn't retiring them he dreams of owning an 'animal', the ultimate status symbol. Then Rick gets his big assignment to kill 6 Nexus-6 targets for a large reward. But things are never that simple.
Why read - After watching Blade Runner (which is loosely based on this book), a friend lent this book to me to read.
Usually I dont like reading books after I have watched the film, but this is one of the cases where it didnt matter. Blade runner is so loosley set from this book it makes a nice set up, and sets the stage from which to read this book from. Not being very good at visualing fantasy books watching the film gives me a mental image to which this book is set.
I really enjoyed the story and found myself getting really into it. Some parts of the story I do wish he plumped out a bit, and killing the androids almost seemed like a sub line to the true plot of this story. I do almost wish they put up more of a fight or it wasn't so skirted around. However the rest of the novel was very interesting and very hard to put down. I really enjoyed the plot lines, and the trying to gain a live animal. Also a very good distinction between humans and Androids and the world they live in colliding together. You could easily imagine the decay and the set up of this story.
I would recommended this story to anyone, weather interested in Sci-Fi or not, its a book that I would add to a list of books to read before you die.
