The Brightest Star In The Sky - Marian Keyes

The story follows the residents of 66 Star Street, three different flats, with a lot going on. We follow them as they fall in and out of love, divulge in their secrets and and watch them grow and change.  Who's going to fall in love with whom, whats going to happen to each of their relationship, and will Fionn ever get his TV show? Its a soap opera, squeezed into a book.

Read - I have read most of Marian Keyes book, and this is one of her latest.  I have enjoyed all her pervious books and look forward to when she brings out her latest novel.

Marian Keyes writes chick lit, or holiday books. Books you can delve into, follow a whirlwind romance, and then have a lovely happy ending.  They are usually quite light, easy to read, and hard to put down.  The brightest star in the sky followed this pattern nicely.  Although i found it hard to get into to start with and was a little bit of a stuttery start it soon got into the flow of things and you didn't want to put it down.

We follow a group of different peoples lives, where they intwine with each other.  This was quite interesting, though you do feel yourself getting slightly frustrated with the fact the blokes are blokes - they dump one girl then move onto the next floor of the flat to find their next hunt. And the girls are stereotypical storybook women.  They swoon over the guys because they are handsome and rich.  Then their is this really annoying character who is supposed to be the narrator, and possibly the glue to the story, the reason we float from flat to flat.  I personally didn't think it was necessary and found it slightly annoying and when u find out who it is, it did actually slightly piss me off.  In the fact it was the most unrealistic bit of the story and you wanted to swat the fairy (or whoever she was meant to be).

I dont think this was her best novel she has written, but despite my grievances (which i tend to always find in books these days) i thought it made quite a good read. It did exactly what i expected from her novel, it was light, easy to read, and gripping enough that i wanted to read it through and not put it down.
