Liar - Justine Larbalestier

Liar is the story of a teen girl, Micah, who just can't stop lying.  She lies about her sex, she lies about her boyfriend, she lies about her dad, and lies about her life.  When her boyfriend winds up dead, she needs to stop lying and confront what really happened. That is if she hasn't lied so much that she can't remember the truth anymore.

Why Read - It was a new teen fiction book in the library I work in and it looked interesting.

When Naomi wakes up in a hospital bed, she has no recollection of what has happened, nor in fact can she remember the last four years.  She doesn't remember her parents are divorced, who her friends are, or who her boyfriend is.  She begins to patch together the fragments of her life and discover a whole new, and different Naomi than the one she left behind.

The Brightest Star In The Sky - Marian Keyes

The story follows the residents of 66 Star Street, three different flats, with a lot going on. We follow them as they fall in and out of love, divulge in their secrets and and watch them grow and change.  Who's going to fall in love with whom, whats going to happen to each of their relationship, and will Fionn ever get his TV show? Its a soap opera, squeezed into a book.

Short Reads

The Following two books were both short reads (took me an hour to read each of them) but as i'm writing a blog about all books i have read i thought its only fair to include these.

My dads a policemen is one of Cathy Glass's fiction. You presume with her history of children in foster care she has some understanding of issues surrounding different child cases. This is the story of a young boy taken into care because his mum can no longer look after him, he doesn't know his dad so he tells people that his dads occupation is as a policemen. He doesn't want to leave his family or his little brother and tries to understand why he has been taken into care.

Nothing To Envy - Barbra Demick

Nothing To Envy brings us the true accounts of North Korea. If you were to google a night map of the country you will notice their are no lights.  Their is no internet, and books like gone with the wind are banned.  All television and phone calls are screened, and the education system only teaches children what the government wants them to hear.  The country is poor and people are rationed like the war.
