Picture Perfect - Jodie Picoult

A woman wakes to find herself in a graveyard, hurt and bleeding, her memory wiped clean. She doesn't know what she's doing there - or even who she is.She is rescued by a police officer, himself a newcomer to Los Angeles. After days of waiting, she is taken by complete surprise when she is finally identified by Alex Rivers, Hollywood's biggest movie star - and her husband.Cassie is dazzled and bewildered by the fairytale in which she suddenly finds herself. But everything is not quite right, and there is something dark and disturbing behind this glamorous facade. It is only as her memory gradually returns that her picture perfect life comes crumbling down, and Cassie is faced with choices she never dreamed she would have to make.

Why Read - I used to read all of her novels, but got annoyed at the court cases and the legal jargon which i felt spoilt most of her books. I have not read one of her novels for a while and saw this and thought I would give her another chance to impress

I am so glad i gave her a second chance, I loved this novel.  She removed all the legal crap and kept all the good bits. Jodi Picoult is a brilliant writer, she writes novels on poignant issues, issues that are almost the rare cases in society. This novel although the basis was on the head injury, it more covered her life before and after the event.  It was well thought out, kept the same pace all the way through.  And although not gripping in a drama sense, it gripped you in a reality sense.

What i also loved about the story is that the story was relatable all the way through, you could really get into the main characters head, and psychologically the main actions carried out by our main character were realistic and understandable.  She also didn't do that story book ending which I hated, It was very realistic and stuck to exactly the morals of the main character.

I thought the whole novel was well thought out, was the right length (their was no dips in the story or areas that felt dragged out or rushed).  It felt very realistic and you could relate this story very well to reality and not the fairy tale, happy ending, fantasy some books portray.  Brilliant book, one of the best I have read from her and worth a read.
