Fifty Shades Of Grey - E.L James

When literature student Anastasia Steele interviews successful entrepreneur Christian Grey, she finds him very attractive and deeply intimidating. Convinced that their meeting went badly, she tries to put him out of her mind - until he turns up at the store where she works part-time, and invites her out. Unworldly and innocent, Ana is shocked to find she wants this man. And, when he warns her to keep her distance, it only makes her want him more. But Grey is tormented by inner demons, and consumed by the need to control. As they embark on a passionate love affair, Ana discovers more about her own desires, as well as the dark secrets Grey keeps hidden away from public view...

I read this because everyone else is reading, and I needed to know what they were talking about.  It is awful.

To be honest this book annoyed me, as I really do not understand what everyone else sees in this novel. Its badly written, its degrading, it is unrealistic and you can not relate to anyone in the book.  I know of much better books that no one is reading yet everyone is reading this. I can't say it has any redeeming features.

Yes some of it is a little addictive in a Chick Flick kind of way, but this is spoilt by the over fantastical scenes that really are not pleasant to read.  The characters have no back bones and you groan at how easily she is persuaded and enthralled by this rich man.  Its defiantly a fantasy novel but its not classily written, and it just feels a bit cheep and degrading.

I would like to have liked it in some way, or seen why its gone crazy as a fantastic book that everyone must read but i really can't see it. It almost worries me if this is the kind of thing that most women want to read. As an avid reader no i did not enjoy it.
