The Hunger Games 2&3 - Susane Collins

In the second book in of the ground-breaking "Hunger Games" trilogy, after winning the brutal Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta return to their district, hoping for a peaceful future. But their victory has caused rebellion to break out ...and the Capitol has decided that someone must pay. As Katniss and Peeta are forced to visit the districts on the Capitol's Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. Unless they can convince the world that they are still lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying. Then comes the cruelest twist: the contestants for the next Hunger Games are announced, and Katniss and Peeta are forced into the arena once more....Then in the third book - Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she's made it out of the bloody arena alive, she's still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge...

You really have to read all three of the hunger games books in succession to get the full story. After time you may forget important aspects of the stores.  The second book felt like the consequence of the first book and the introduction of the third. It was more of a tie in novel, and because of this, their was not much drama or suspense. It was the weaker book of the three and it just summed things up in the middle.

It started to pick up again by book three, but i did feel like Collins took an unusual twist in the path she decided to right about. The novel was good but it did feel like two and three were an after thought on the success of one, and the first book was the best of the three.

However Collins still managed to keep the suspense alive, and the writing of these books were fantastic. Although somewhat predictable in some sense she was very clever about how she portrayed things and some aspects you really did not see coming.  She also managed to keep the characters alive and you felt like they all had their unique personalities and they stuck to this across all three novels. All three books I could not put them down and read them rather quickly. They were gripping and intense.  I loved these books and would recommend them to everyone as a great trilogy to read.
